1. Information, not advice
Everything on this website is general information about water treatment and about what KYNA supplies. It is not engineering advice, not legal advice and not medical advice, and it is not tailored to your building, your supply or your circumstances.
Do not size, buy, install or rely on a water treatment system on the strength of a webpage. That is what the survey is for.
2. What the free water analysis is
The free analysis is a site test using field instruments, carried out at your building by a KYNA technician. It measures three things:
- Total hardness
- Total dissolved solids
- pH
Those three readings are what a softener or an RO plant has to be sized against, which is why we take them and why we give them to you in writing whether or not you buy anything.
Readings describe your supply at the moment and the point they were taken. Municipal and borewell water changes with the season, with the source, with the tank, and with how long the line has stood. A reading taken in March does not bind your water in September.
3. What it is not
The free analysis is not a test of whether your water is safe to drink, and it must never be treated as one. It does not test for bacteria, viruses, arsenic, fluoride, nitrates, lead, heavy metals, pesticides or any other contaminant. Three readings cannot tell you that water is potable, and we do not say that they can.
It is not a laboratory analysis, it is not carried out in an NABL-accredited laboratory, and it is not a certificate of conformity to IS 10500 or to any other standard. If you need water certified as fit to drink, you need an accredited laboratory, and we will tell you so rather than pretend otherwise.
If anyone in your building is unwell and you suspect the water, treat that as a medical and public-health matter first. Speak to a doctor and to your water authority. Do not wait on a survey from us.
4. Capacity and performance figures
Figures given on this site, meaning capacity ranges, duty cycles, output and service intervals, are typical values for the equipment, not guarantees for your installation. What a plant actually delivers depends on things that are not ours to control:
- The quality, hardness and temperature of your feed water, and how it varies.
- Your inlet pressure and the reliability of your supply.
- Your electricity supply, and how often it fails.
- Whether the system is operated as specified and serviced when it is due.
- Whether consumables are replaced on time and with the right parts.
The performance you can expect is stated in the quotation prepared after your survey, and in the agreement for the job. That, and not this website, is the figure to rely on.
5. Softened water is not drinking water
An ion-exchange softener does not purify water and does not make it safe to drink. It exchanges the calcium and magnesium that cause hardness for sodium, so softened water contains more sodium than the supply it came from. It removes no bacteria and no chemical contaminants.
Because of that, softened water is generally not recommended for drinking or for cooking, and particularly not for anyone on a sodium-restricted diet, for infants, or for anyone whose doctor has told them to watch their salt. If you or anyone in the building is in that position, ask your doctor rather than us.
The usual arrangement is to leave a hard-water tap for drinking and cooking, or to put a separate RO unit on it. We will discuss that at the survey. A softener is for your plumbing, your geyser, your washing machine and your taps; it is not a drinking-water system.
6. The line drawings
The two technical drawings on this site, the industrial RO skid and the two-stage softener, are illustrations, not engineering drawings. They are drawn from photographs of real KYNA equipment and they are captioned “not to scale” because they are not to scale.
They show the general arrangement of a typical machine. They are not a specification, they do not show every component, valve, fitting or safety device, and nothing may be fabricated, ordered, installed or inspected from them. The equipment supplied to you may differ in arrangement, size and detail.
7. Rental, warranty and response times
The rental terms, the warranty period and the service response time stated on this site describe how KYNA normally works, and we intend to hold to them. They are summaries, written to be readable, and they are not the contract.
Where anything on this site differs from your signed quotation, rental agreement or service contract, the signed document governs. If you spot a difference between the two, tell us before you sign, and we will fix whichever one is wrong.
Response times depend on where the site is and on things outside our control, including access to the building, availability of parts, weather, and public holidays.
8. Third-party information
Where we describe a standard, a regulation or another company's product, we do so in good faith and in general terms. We do not warrant that such descriptions are complete or current, and they are not a substitute for the source. Standards change; check the current version.
9. Errors
We take care over what goes on this site and we would rather be told than flattered. If something here is wrong, out of date or misleading, please tell us at the address below and we will correct it. To the extent the law allows, we accept no liability for any loss arising from an error or omission on this website, as distinct from an error in a written quotation or agreement.
